Description
Twitty's Almshouses, built in 1707, is a single-storey red brick building founded by Charles Twitty, who was the deputy auditor of the Receipt of Exchequer in Westminster. The building features a modillion eaves cornice and a central pediment topped with a ball finial and weathervane. It has a hipped roof with an attractive square-plan glazed lantern. The entrance includes a panelled door and a four-light casement window with glazing bars and brick gauged voussoirs. Twitty's Almshouses is part of a group that includes Long Alley Almshouses, Brick Alley Almshouses, and the Church of St Helen.
