Description
This is a cruck barn located approximately 40 metres east of Bayllols Manor, dating from around 1365 with later alterations. The barn features a coursed stone rubble plinth topped with red brick, weatherboarding on timber-framing, and an old plain-tile roof that is half-hipped to the right. It has a 4-bay range, which is likely truncated from an original 6-bay design. There are plank double doors on the left side and opposing plank double doors at the rear. Inside, the barn showcases 4 bays of arch-braced base cruck construction with 2 rows of windbraces. Historically, the farmstead was owned by the Bayllol family from around 1200 to 1350, followed by the Brounz family from 1350 to 1484. In 1484, the farmstead was purchased by William Waynflete, the Bishop of Winchester.
