Description

Seymour House is a house that dates back to around 1530 for the cross-wing and around 1580 for the main range. It features a rendered plinth and small timber-framing with rendered in-fill, topped with a 20th-century plain-tile roof that is hipped to the right. The building is two stories tall with a three-window range, and there is a single-storey and attic cross-wing to the right.

The entrance consists of a six-panel door located to the left of center, which is sheltered by a flat hood supported by brackets. To the right of the door, there is a three-light casement window, while the end of the cross-wing has a two-light casement. On the first floor, there are three-light casements, and there is a blocked window with diagonally set mullions to the left of center. The gable end of the cross-wing features a two-light casement and a raised cruck truss.

On the left return, there is a double Queen-post roof truss at the gable end. To the right, there is a 17th-century addition made of painted coursed stone-rubble with a 20th-century plain-tile roof, which is single-storey and attic with a two-window range and two 19th-century casements. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is likely to be of interest. This house is a rare example of an original two-storey cruck range forming a cross-wing.
