Description

Carter's Close is a house dating from the 17th century, located on the north side of Main Street in West Hanney. It is built with an irregular timber frame, now largely obscured by painted brick and rendered infill. The roof is thatched, with a half-hipped form, and features a stone ridge stack positioned to the left of centre, to which an 18th-century brick flue is attached. A brick end stack is present on the right. The house is of single storey and attic height, with a three-window front. A plank door is set within a 20th-century porch located to the right of centre. The windows are a mix of irregular casements, with swept dormers incorporating three-light casements with leaded lights. The interior has not been inspected.
