Description

The statue of wrestlers, dating from the early 18th century, is located approximately 80 meters northwest of Shirburn Castle. It is made of limestone and stands on a rectangular plinth that has bowed ends, along with a moulded plinth and cornice. An inspection of the statue was not possible, and the description was compiled from photographs. Shirburn Park and gardens are included in the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission Register of Gardens at Grade II, and Shirburn Castle is referenced in Country Life, Volume VII, 1900, page 81.
