Description
This is a statue of two men wrestling, dating from around 1730, commissioned by John Aislabie. It is made of lead and stands on an ashlar pedestal. The pedestal features a moulded plinth and cornice, and the statue showcases very fine Greek-style figures, with particularly detailed facial features and hair. This statue was the third to be placed at this site in Aislabie's garden, which originally included many statues. The original statue is located in Florence.
