Description

No. 9 Buttermarket is a house that has been converted into a shop and dwelling. It dates from the mid-17th century and was refronted, likely in the early 18th century, with a late 19th-century shop front. The exterior features lined render, probably over timber framing, and has an old plain-tile roof, although the chimney stacks are not visible. The building is two stories high and has a two-window range. There is a 20th-century half-glazed door on the right side. The late 19th-century shop front includes segmental-topped lights. On the first floor, there are two 4-pane horned sash windows with painted wood architrave surrounds. Inside, there is a chamfered spine beam in the front of the ground floor.
