Description
Anchor House is a house dating from the mid-17th century, with an early 18th-century front and 19th-century alterations. It is built of painted brick and features an old plain-tile roof, with a brick-rendered end stack on the right. The house has two storeys and an attic, with a two-window range. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door topped by a flat hood supported by brackets. All openings have four-pane horned sashes, except for a 19th-century angled bay window on the ground floor to the right. A painted wood dentil cornice decorates the eaves. There are two raking dormers, each with two-light casements. Inside, there are 20th-century stairs leading from the ground floor to the first floor, and a winder staircase from the first floor to the attic. The structure features a double queen post roof, spine beams on both the ground and first floors, and an open fireplace on the ground floor to the right. To the right of the main house is a single-storey service wing with three windows.
