Description

Orchard Cottage is a house dating from the late 16th and 17th centuries. It is timber-framed with rendered infill and some rendered walls, and features a thatched roof with brick stacks. The house is arranged with a 3-unit plan, including gable outshuts. It has one storey with attics. The two left bays of the front elevation are timber-framed, with small-paned, leaded casement windows and plank shutters. The first floor has two 19th-century dormers. A rendered bay to the right has a small leaded casement with shutters. Further leaded casements are found in the outshuts, as well as a plank front door to the right. The rear elevation has leaded casements and small bedroom windows set under the eaves. The roof slopes down over the outshuts, and stacks flank the timber-framed bays. The interior was not inspected.
