Description
Island Cottage is a house dating from the early 18th century, with a front that was added in the late 18th century. The building is roughcast, likely over brick, and features a Welsh slate roof with a brick ridge stack located to the right of the center. It is two stories high and has a two-window range. There is a glazed door to the left of the center, and flat-roofed angled bays with sash windows on both sides. The first floor has 20-pane unhorned sashes. At the rear, there is large timber framing. The interior has not been inspected. There is probably an early 19th-century extension to the right, constructed of red brick with grey headers in Flemish bond and also featuring a Welsh slate roof. This extension is two stories high with a two-window range, a 4-panel part-glazed door with a flat hood to the left, and 16-pane sashes on both the ground and first floors to the right, along with a 12-pane sash on the first floor to the left. A dentil course is present at the eaves.
