Description
No. 1 The Forty is a house, likely built in the late 17th century. It features painted brick construction and a thatched roof that is hipped to the right. There is a brick stack at the left end and a lateral stack at the right front. The house is single storey with an attic and has a two-window range that is positioned at right angles to the street. The central entrance has a plank door with a segmental brick head and a flat hood above it. To the left of the door is a three-light wood casement window with a segmental brick head, and to the right of center are paired two-pane sash windows, also with segmental brick heads. There is a horizontal sash window to the right. The house has two swept dormers, each with three-light casements. On the right side, there is a four-panel door to the right, a four-light wood casement window in the center, and a bay window to the left that has a slate hipped roof. There is also a swept dormer off center with a two-light casement. The interior has not been inspected.
