Description

This is a house, likely dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. It is situated on Ilges Lane in Cholsey. The house is constructed of painted brick with an old plain-tile roof and features a brick ridge stack and an end stack on the right side. The building is a single storey with an attic, and has a two-window front facing at a right angle to the street. A 19th-century ribbed and studded brick porch with a gabled roof is centrally located and contains a horizontal door. Windows to the left and right have horizontal sashes with diagonal glazing bars set within segmental brick heads. A dentil course runs along the eaves. Two half-dormers are present, each containing a horizontal sash window with diagonal glazing bars. The right return displays timber framing with painted brick infill and a Queen-post roof truss. The left return is rendered in roughcast, likely covering timber framing. The interior has not been inspected.
