Description
Lammas Cottage and the adjoining cottage are late 17th century to early 18th century cottages located on the east side of The Green in Great Milton. They are constructed from colourwashed limestone rubble with some brick dressings and feature a thatched roof with a rubble ridge stack. The cottages are one and two units in size and may have originally been designed as a three-unit plan. They are one storey plus attics high.
To the left of the shared stack, Lammas Cottage has a doorway situated between three-light casements, all of which have brick segmental arches, and two small two-light dormers. To the right of the stack, the adjoining cottage features an old three-light leaded casement beneath a timber lintel and a two-light dormer above. There is a plank door at the extreme right with a small blind panel above it. Both cottages have plank shutters at the ground floor and leaded lights in the dormers.
Inside, Lammas Cottage includes chamfered and stopped beams as well as a large open fireplace. These cottages are part of a charming row that faces The Green.
