Description

This early 18th-century house began as two cottages. It is constructed of limestone rubble with brick dressings and has a thatched roof with brick gable stacks. The building has a two-unit plan and one storey with attics. The front has four windows, retaining two doorways between the 2-light casement windows, with 2-light dormers above. Some casements have been renewed. A 20th-century porch has been added to the left entrance, and a 20th-century extension is located at the rear. The left cottage contains a large open fireplace with a winder stair, a heavy beam with ogee stops, and a 2-bay roof with trenched purlins. The right cottage features a large open fireplace with a bread oven and a moulded jowled post. Timber-framed partitions are present on the first floor.
