Description

Stone's Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early 17th century and was extended in the 18th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a plain-tile roof with stone and brick gable stacks. It has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys high, plus attics.

The front of the house has four windows and a central six-panel door that is set into a four-light window. To the right of the door is a four-light window, and to the left is a three-light window. On the first floor, there are three-light windows flanking a pair of two-light windows. All the windows have concave-chamfered stone mullions and previously had labels above them. The roof is hipped to the right and returns to the rear wing. There is a brick stack on the left and a large chimney projection on the right. The right return wall features stone mullioned windows of two lights, and there is a three-light window with a label in the rear gable wall. The L-plan is infilled with 18th-century wings that are one storey high, plus attics.

Inside, the farmhouse has chamfered and stopped beams, an old staircase with winders, and the remains of a large open fireplace. The granary and the larger of the barns that were previously part of the listing have now been demolished.
