Description

Number 1 The Poplars and Number 2 The Poplars are two dwellings located on Oakley Road in Chinnor. They date from the mid-17th century and have had 20th-century additions at the rear. The buildings feature a rendered plinth and large timber framing with brick infill, some of which is arranged in a herringbone pattern. The roof is half-hipped and covered with plain tiles, with a brick ridge stack at the center. The original layout was likely a three-unit lobby-entry plan. The structure is two stories high and has a five-window range. There are sash doors on either side of the center, each with open lean-to porches. The windows are an irregular mix of 19th and 20th-century wooden casements, and there are raking dormers on both sides. The interiors have not been inspected.
