Description

The Church of St Mary is a church built around 1878, which incorporates some earlier work. It was designed by H.J. Tollit of Oxford and Edwin Dolby of London. The church is constructed from knapped flint with stone dressings and features an old plain-tile roof and a stone bellcote. It has a three-bay nave and a two-bay chancel, along with a vestry.

To the left of the nave, there is a porch with a two-centred archway and a gabled old plain-tile roof. The church has a 13th-century two-centre arched doorway with a hood mould, which contains a 19th-century plank door. The nave has a three-light window with reticulated tracery on the right side, while the chancel features two-light reticulated tracery windows.

At the rear, there is a Romanesque round-arched doorway with moulded imposts and a hood mould, leading to the centre of the nave, which has a plank door. To the right of this doorway, there is another three-light reticulated tracery window. The vestry to the left has a catslide roof and two-light reticulated tracery windows. The east end of the church features a three-light reticulated tracery window, and the west end has a two-light reticulated tracery window with a stone bellcote at the gable apex.

Inside, the chancel has a wooden barrel-vaulted roof, while the nave features an arch-braced collar-truss roof. The east window is from around 1870 and was made by Kempe. There is a 19th-century stone carved reredos and sedilia formed from lancet tracery. A 13th-century brass is reset on the left wall of the chancel, and there is a 19th-century stone font.
