Description

Stockwells Cottage is a house likely dating from the late 16th century, with substantial alterations in the early 18th and early 19th centuries. The left-hand side is timber-framed with red brick infill, while the right-hand side is entirely red brick. The roof is covered in old plain tiles, half-hipped to the right and hipped to the left, with brick ridge stacks positioned to the left and right of the centre. The cottage is two storeys high, with a four-window front. A 20th-century door is located on the left return. The windows are mostly 20th-century metal casements, except for two wooden oriel windows, one on brackets to the ground floor left of centre and another to the first floor left of centre. The building is noted to likely contain a late 16th-century cruck truss.
