Description
The Smithy is a house, now divided into two houses, dating from the 17th century with 20th-century alterations. It features large timber framing with arch braces and rendered infill, topped by an old plain-tile roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a four-window range.
To the left of the centre, there is a part-glazed plank door leading to a porch with a gabled plain-tile roof. To the right, another glazed plank door also leads to a porch with a gabled plain-tile roof. An angled bay with a hipped plain-tile roof is located to the left, while a single-light casement window is positioned to the right of the centre. On the first floor, there are three-light wood casements, except for a four-light casement on the right. A raking dormer is situated to the left.
Inside, the building features extensive beaming and a rebuilt open fireplace in the centre of the ground floor, along with a queen-post roof. There is a two-storey, single-window extension to the right, which also has timber framing with rendered infill and a plain-tile, half-hipped roof. This extension includes a square bay window with a lean-to roof on the ground floor and a two-light wood casement on the first floor.
