Description

The Church of All Saints is a Grade II* listed building located in Aston Upthorpe. It dates back to the 12th century, with the nave roof likely from the 14th century. The north porch was added in the early 17th century, while the chancel and vestry were constructed around 1859 by P.C. Hardwick, who also designed the bell-turret with a spirelet. The church is built of roughcast, likely on flint, with stone dressings. The chancel features flint with stone banding and dressings, and the roof is covered with old plain tiles. The wood bell-tower has a spirelet covered in lead.

The church has a four-bay nave and a chancel. The open timber-framed porch has a crown-post and an old plain-tile gabled roof. The entrance features a Romanesque doorway with a 19th-century plank door, and there is a lancet window to the left. The chancel has a trefoil lancet and a triple lancet window at its end. The rear of the church shows red brick with a blocked Romanesque doorway and a triple trefoil lancet to the right of the nave. The vestry on the right has a paired lancet in a 2-centred archway leading to a cross-gable, and there is a 2-light Perpendicular window at the west end.

Inside, the nave features a four-bay arch-braced roof, while the chancel has a 19th-century arch-braced roof. There is a piscina in the chancel from the 19th century and carved heads above the nave doorways. Some of the pews contain re-used bench-ends.
