Description

The churchyard cross, located approximately 6 metres south of Dorchester Abbey, dates from the 14th to 15th century and was restored in 1872 by Sir G. Gilbert Scott. It is made of limestone and features a tapering octagonal shaft that rises from a square base, which has corner stops and a moulded octagonal upper face. The shaft is set on three restored octagonal steps. The 19th-century head of the cross is richly carved with four canopied niches that contain figures, topped with an apex cross.
