Description
48 and 50 Hart Street are 15th to 16th century timber-framed buildings with roughcast plaster infill and an old tiled roof. They stand three storeys high and feature two windows under gables, which have pierced and scalloped barge boards and finials. Each floor juts out, supported by a moulded bressumer, with the second floor's bressumer held up by wooden brackets. The upper floors have early 19th century casement windows with glazing bars. The ground floor includes one unbarred sash window and one late 18th to early 19th century canted bay window with sashes and glazing bars. There are two doors, and the eastern facade has a tile-hung gable end. These buildings are part of a group that includes several other notable structures along Hart Street.
