Description
The Old School House is a former school building from 1856, designed by James Brooks. It is constructed of flint with red brick dressings and features a gabled tiled roof. The northern facade includes a three-light leaded window set within a red relieving arch. The building has now been converted into a house. It is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 8 (even), Nos 14 to 36 (even) including Adam House, and Nos 40 and 44, as well as the gates and piers at 48 and 50, The Old School House, and the Rectory Garden Wall. This group is associated with Nos 5 to 39 (odd), the Drinking Fountain, the Parish Church of St Mary, and the raised pavement at the east end of Hart Street.
