Description
Stoke Abbas House is a late 17th-century house located on the east side of The Street in South Stoke. It is constructed of grey brick with red brick dressings and features an old plain-tile roof with brick end stacks. The house has two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range. The entrance consists of a 20th-century plank door set within a closed porch, flanked by single lights. On either side of the door, there are three-light wood mullion and transom windows. A flat brick band runs between the ground and first floor, which has three wood cross-windows. The eaves are adorned with a flat brick band and a moulded brick cornice. Gabled dormers with two-light casements are positioned to the left and right of the roof. Inside, the house features a dog-leg staircase with landings and stop-chamfered spine beams with ogee end stops on both the ground and first floors.
