Description
The Rectory, built in 1857 by David Brandon for Reverend W.C. Macfarlane, is a Grade II listed building located on Dorchester Manor Farm Road. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a Welsh slate roof with stone and brick stacks. The building has a complex plan and is designed in the Gothic style, standing two storeys tall. The irregular front includes a large central gable with a porch on the left that shelters an arched entrance. The stone mullioned and transomed windows all have trefoil-headed lights. The rear of the building has a similar window arrangement and displays a shield of arms for Saints Peter and Paul, along with the date 1857. The exterior remains almost unaltered, while the interior has not been inspected. The Rectory is situated close to the Abbey, The Abbey Guest House, and The Manor House, contributing to its group value.
