Description

Maryland’s is a pair of late 18th-century cottages, now combined into a single house. The building is constructed of colourwashed brick with a thatched roof and a brick stack. It has a 2-unit plan. The house has one storey and an attic. The front of each original cottage features casement windows of 1, 2, and 3 lights, with the central windows replacing old doorways. Most windows have segmental arches. There are two semi-circular dormers, each with 5 lights. The hipped roof is dominated by a large central stack. Further segmental-arched casement windows are found at the ends of the building. Internally, there are chamfered beams. Maryland’s was formerly part of the Chiselhampton Estate.
