Description
Mallards is a house that has been converted into a wine bar. It dates back to the 14th century and has undergone later alterations. The building features a rendered exterior on a timber frame, likely with brick, and has an old plain-tile roof. The chimney stacks are not visible. It is a single storey with an attic and has a three-window range. There is a six-panel door located to the right of the center. To the left, there is a late 19th-century shop front with a part-glazed door on the right. The center and right sides have three-light wood casements. The building also has three gabled full dormers with two-light wood casements.
Inside, there is a winder staircase at the rear, and three full crucks are visible on the upper floor. A rebuilt open stone fireplace can be found at the rear. The building originally had a cellar and was a former hall house, with the central open bay being heated by a stone stack, which still exists in a truncated form on the north wall.
