Description
New Gardens and attached walls is a farmhouse built in the mid to late 18th century, with an early 19th-century rear range and mid-19th-century alterations. The building features Flemish bond brickwork with flared headers and has a gabled old tile roof with brick end stacks. It has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a three-window range. There are segmental brick arches over a 20th-century double-leaf door to the right and two-light casement windows. The left bay, originally without windows, was raised from one to two storeys in the mid-19th century, during which time the flint rubble left side wall and rear outshut were rebuilt. The early 19th-century two-storey, two-bay range at the rear is rendered and colourwashed brick, featuring a six-panelled door and 19th-century two-light casements. The interior has not been inspected. The flanking walls are made of English bond brick and enclose a large rear garden, with the rear wall constructed of flint rubble with brick vertical dressings.
