Description
St. Nicholas is a house located on Wallingford High Street, dating from the early 19th century. It is built of ashlar Bath stone and features a Greek Revival style. The building is two stories high and has three windows, with a basement. The basement has 6-pane sash windows. There are central steps leading up to a panelled door, which is sheltered by a square porch supported by fluted Greek Doric columns, with pilasters at the back.
On the left and right sides of the door, there are 12-pane unhorned sash windows set in segmental topped recessed panels, with recessed rectangular panels beneath them. A flat stone band runs between the ground and first floors. The first floor has 12-pane unhorned sash windows with stone architrave surrounds. At the eaves, there is a stone cornice and a panelled parapet featuring antifixae. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest. To the right, there is a single-storey addition. The front of the house is complemented by Greek Revival style cast-iron railings and gates.
