Description

Lower Lodge in Friar Park is a late 19th-century building constructed of red brick and stone, featuring a flamboyant Gothic design with an irregular plan. The eastern end of the lodge has a one and a half-storey advanced hexagonal section, and the windows are designed in the Perpendicular Gothic style with stone tracery. The structure is topped with elaborate pierced stone battlements that include finials and gargoyles. It has a pyramidal tiled roof, and the main section features casement windows with oriel windows above a Tudor arched door. The building is also adorned with elaborate banded chimneys. The Lower Lodge is part of a group of buildings on the Friar Park estate and is grouped with the entrance walls, gates, and piers, as well as Ancastle Cottage located opposite.
