Description
Jumble Jo's is a cottage dating from the 16th or 17th century, with a significant alteration in 1663. It is constructed of limestone rubble and timber framing, topped with a thatched roof and featuring a brick chimney. The building has a two-unit plan and consists of one storey plus attics. The entrance door is flanked by wooden casement windows, with dormers above, mostly consisting of two lights, facing north. The timber framing is visible to the right of the door, while the right gable has been cased in stone and brick. The left gable features a half-hip and a chimney. Inside, there is a fireplace with a cambered bressumer dated 1663 and the remnants of a bread oven. The first-floor structure includes much reused wall framing. The roof has a central truss framed around a doorway, clasped purlins, and some straight wind braces. The building likely underwent a partial rebuilding in stone in 1663, replacing an earlier timber-framed structure.
