Description
Meadow Court is a house located at 53 Chapel Street in Watlington, dating from the mid to late 17th century. The building features a rectangular and square timber frame, with some parts renewed on the sides. It has a gabled roof covered with old tiles and a brick ridge stack. The house is designed with a two-unit lobby-entry plan and consists of two storeys with a three-window range. There is a 20th-century two-storey porch with a 20th-century door and 20th-century three-light casements.
At the rear left, there is an early 19th-century two-storey section with a two-window range, roughcast walls, a gabled roof with both old and 20th-century tiles, and a brick end stack. Inside, the property features chamfered and jewel-stopped beams, a segmental-arched fireplace on the left, and ribbed old plank doors on the right. There is an early 19th-century panelled door leading to quarter-turn stairs next to the fireplace. The first floor also has chamfered and stopped beams, along with late 17th-century stone fireplaces that have stone moulded overmantles, one of which contains an early 19th-century grate. The roof trusses are obscured but are likely from the 17th century.
