Description
No 13 on Merton Street is a house built around 1699, along with Nos 14 and 15. The south front features three storeys made of rubble, with cellars and attic dormers hidden behind a parapet. The top floor is rendered, and there are five windows shared between Nos 13 and 14. A stone band marks the second floor, and there is a moulded eaves cornice. The roof is covered with Welsh slate and lead, and the chimney stacks are made of modern brick. The house has 19th-century sash windows and two panelled front doors, each with rectangular fanlights and small wooden hoods. At the back, on the north side, there is a single gabled wing that is stuccoed and roughcast, built in timber frame. Inside, the house features 18th-century panelling and a fireplace dating from around 1700. Nos 13 to 18 together form a group.
