Description
16 Merton Street is a house that likely dates back to the 17th century but has been updated with a brick front and cement facing. The building is two stories tall and has cellars, along with a large gabled attic dormer that is also cement-faced. It features a Welsh slate roof and brick chimney stacks. The front has a modern three-light sash window set in a wooden frame. The doorway is framed with moulded wood and has a modern moulded and bracketed hood, although the door itself belongs to the adjacent building at No 17. This house is part of a group that includes Nos 13 to 18. For information on leases and tenants, refer to the Oxford Historical Society publication from 1914.
