Description
17 Merton Street is a house that likely dates back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century. It is two stories tall and built of rubble, with cellars and a later added third story featuring cement-faced timber framing that overhangs. The building has stone bands at the first and second floors, a Welsh slate roof, and brick chimney stacks.
On the ground floor, there is a modern sash window and a plain front doorway topped with a small hood. The first floor features a modern bay window with four lights in a wood frame, accompanied by a moulded entablature; flanking this bay are single light sash windows. The overhanging top floor has three sash windows, all in moulded wood frames. All windows, except those on the ground floor, have glazing bars.
This property is part of a group that includes Nos 13 to 18 Merton Street.
