Description
The Church of St Giles is a parish church located on St Giles Street. It features a late 12th century west tower and an early 13th century chancel, with the north and east walls of the chancel rebuilt in the late 13th century. The church includes north and south aisles, arcades, and a south porch. The nave walls were raised in the 15th to 16th centuries. Inside, there is an early 13th century font and monuments from the 17th and 18th centuries. The church underwent restoration by H J Underwood between 1850 and 1852, which included the rebuilding of the south chapel, except for the east window that was restored by J M Derick. The chancel was repaired in 1879 under the direction of Blomfield and again restored in 1920.
