Description
22 and 23 St Giles Street are two houses that form one building, originally constructed in the early 17th century but have been altered in a way that lacks sensitivity to their historical character. The exterior features a two-storey front that is stuccoed, dating from the 19th century, with a Welsh slate roof and three gables. The ground floor of No 23 has a shop front, while No 22 has a three-light sash window in a wooden frame on the ground floor. The first floor of No 22 includes one sash window and one two-light sash window. The central and southern gables have two-light casement windows, while the northern gable features a sash window. The building has undergone significant restoration. Inside, there is some reset panelling from an early date and some from the 18th century. These houses are part of a group that includes Nos 1, 11 to 17 (consecutive), 19, 20, Black Hall, and part of Queen Elizabeth House.
