Description
The White Hart is a public house located on Oxford Road in Old Marston, dating from the mid to late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone rubble with timber lintels and features a plain-tile roof with buff-brick stacks. The building has a four-unit plan and stands two storeys high with attics. The front has four windows and a central door, which is now covered by a large stone porch added in the 20th century. The fenestration is almost regular, consisting of casements, mostly with three or four lights. Three casements to the right of the door retain their ovolo-moulded frames. To the left of centre, there is a single stone-gabled dormer that has been rebuilt in reconstituted stone. The stacks are positioned to the left and right of centre, rising from the front slope of the roof. An addition, likely from the 18th century, is located at the extreme left. Inside, the opposed entrances indicate that there was once a through passage.
