Description
A farmhouse, now a house, likely dating from the early to mid 17th century, with extensions and remodelling in the 18th and 19th centuries, and further alterations in the early 20th century. The building is constructed from limestone rubble, some squared and coursed, with an artificial stone-slate roof and stone stacks. Originally, it probably had a 4-unit plan. The front has four windows. The ground floor windows are stone-mullioned, and include a mullioned bay window to the extreme left. The first floor retains three leaded 3-light oak casements, and a gabled half-dormer is positioned above the bay window. To the right is a barn or outbuilding, now featuring an arched vehicular entrance with wrought-iron gates. The left gable wall shows bands of squared rubble and returns to a later rear wing. The rear of the building is largely a 20th-century timber-framed extension. The interior contains chamfered spine beams and joists with run-out stops, an open fireplace with a chamfered and stopped cambered bressumer, and a restored Tudor-arched bedroom fireplace. A butt-purlin roof with through tenons is also present. The house was formerly the home farm for the Manor House.
