Description
Nos 13 and 13A on Holywell Street is an early 17th-century house that stands two stories tall and is constructed of rubble stone. It features two prominent gabled dormers, each topped with stone copings, and contains original three-light stone ovolo-moulded mullioned windows with square labels in each gable. Below the dormers, there is a moulded stone string course. The house has a modern brown tiled roof, and on the east side, there is a moulded stone-based stack with a modern brick chimney.
On the ground floor, there are two 18th-century wooden sliding Yorkshire casement windows flanking a plain doorway. The central passageway leads to a yard at the back, suggesting that the house was likely originally divided into two cottages. The first floor has two moulded stone window frames with square heads and 18th-century casement windows, although the stone mullions have been removed. The rear of the house features a large gable and a projecting stone stack. Inside, there is an original fireplace.
This building is part of a group of listed buildings on the north side of Holywell Street.
