Description
Tudor House, located at No 94 on the South Side of High Street, dates back to the 16th and 17th centuries. This three-storey building features timber framing, cellars, and attics. The west elevation, facing Magpie Lane, has a corbelled wood overhang at the ground floor on the south end, which is dated 1588. The remainder of the façade is roughcast with modern casement windows. The building underwent restoration in 1970, during which the ground floor was brick nogged. The north elevation consists of a modern brick and timber-framed structure, likely built over the original 17th-century house. On the first floor, there are two oriel windows supported by coved brackets, along with 4-light casement windows on the second and third floors. Inside, the building retains some ceiling beams and a 17th-century fireplace. Tudor House is part of a group of listed buildings on the South Side.
