Description
No 2 Magpie Lane is a house built in the early 17th century. It is three stories high, constructed with roughcast timber framing and features large cellars. The building has an overhang on both the first and second floors, three gables, a Welsh slate roof, and brick stacks. The exposed beams that support the first-floor overhang on the west side are mostly original, while the casement windows and doorway have been modernized. On the north side, the first floor has a bracketed projecting bay dated 1613, and the second floor features an eight-light oriel window in a renewed wood frame, supported by four original enriched brackets. The south elevation includes a modern four-light casement window on each floor. Inside, the house retains original panelling and stone fireplaces. This property is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 9 Magpie Lane.
