Description
Pembroke College's Staircase 12, dating from 1485, is part of a building formerly known as Nos 26 and 26A Pembroke Street. While it appears to be from the late 18th century or early 19th century, it is actually a modern reproduction of the original buildings. The structure is three stories tall, featuring stucco with a brick-faced ground floor and decorative bands at the first and second floors. The ground floor includes a sash window set in a plain reveal, while the first floor has a tripartite sash window, above which are two small sash windows, all with glazing bars. The entrance features a six-panel door topped by a rectangular light with intersecting tracery. The building is capped with a modern slate mansard roof, which has altered the original roof line.
