Description

31 Holywell Street is a house dating from the early 18th century that has been modernised. It is three storeys high and features a stuccoed timber frame with two brick chimney stacks. On the ground floor, there is a three-light modern sash window alongside a single sash window. The front doorway is notable for its early 18th-century fluted Ionic pilasters and an ornate hood supported by scroll brackets; the door itself is panelled and topped with a rectangular fanlight. The first and second floors each have two double sash windows set in plain flush wooden frames, with the first-floor windows featuring architraves and all windows including glazing bars. This building is part of a group of listed buildings on the north side of Holywell Street.
