Description

This description covers a group of two chest tombs located approximately 7 meters west of the west end of the Church of St. Michael in Alkerton, Shenington with Alkerton. The tombs date from 1760 and 1745 and are made of ironstone. The northern tomb, dated 1760, features balusters with Corinthian capitals and a moulded, chamfered ledger slab. The southern tomb, dated 1745, is dedicated to Elizabeth, the wife of John Short, and has corner balusters, plain panelled sides, and a moulded, chamfered ledger slab.
