Description
Hampden Manor is a house dating from the late 17th century, with an 18th-century extension to the right, and subsequent remodelling in the early 19th and 20th centuries. The house is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with a gabled stone slate roof. It features a brick stack on the left end, a rendered stack on the right end, and an external stone lateral stack at the rear, dating to the 17th century. The building has a 4-unit plan.
The two-window range on the left side retains C17 flat stone arches over blocked openings, and timber lintels over early 19th-century eight-pane sashes. The left window has a C17 moulded roll-stopped lintel. Two gabled roof dormers are present on this side. The two-window range to the right, which incorporates an early 18th-century bay, also has similar windows and a C20 round-arched doorway. A gabled roof dormer is present on the right, and the right gable end features a sundial plaque. A C20 garage range is situated to the front left, along with C20 outshuts. The rear of the house has early 19th-century six- and 8-pane sashes. A late 19th-century wing is located at the rear.
The interior was remodelled in the 20th century and now includes chamfered beams to the right. Until around 1800, the house was surrounded by walls forming a courtyard on three sides.
