Description
Belleisle Farmhouse barn, dating from the 18th century, is located approximately 25 metres south of the farmhouse. The barn features an illegible datestone on the west extension, noted as 1775, and a datestone on the east gable marked 1776. It is constructed from ironstone rubble with limestone quoins, ironstone copings, and has a 20th-century roof. The barn consists of three bays with a central threshing floor, and the north porch has a hipped roof. Inside, the roof timbers at the east end have been renewed, and the principal rafter roof includes butt purlins, collars, and tie beams. The thick walls are lined with brick. The datestone on the east gable is set in an ornamental wreath and is attributed to Appletre Nathanial Austin. The datestone on the west gable of the extension features a boldly carved fleur-de-lys, which may be the crest of Austin.
