Description
The Old House is a farmhouse, now a house, believed to have been purchased by Jeremiah Lamb in 1658, with alterations from the 18th century. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble and features a steeply pitched, raised thatched roof with brick ridge and end stacks. The building has a 3-unit plan and is two storeys high, with a three-window range. The entrance, located to the left, has a plank door with a wood lintel and a large hood above it. Flanking the entrance are two-light and single-light windows in wood frames. To the right, there is a three-light metal casement window and a bow window. On the first floor, there are two three-light and one four-light metal casement windows in wood frames. The windows throughout have wood lintels, lead cames, and wrought-iron casement fasteners and springs. Jeremiah Lamb is noted to have moved here from Little Rollright Mill and was a farmer known for creating a unique collection of British wildflowers. The interior has not been inspected.
