Description

A row of four cottages in Sibford Ferris, dating in part to the 18th century, with later alterations. A datestone marked "JS 1721" is visible in the left gable of Rufus Cottage. The cottages are constructed of coursed ironstone rubble, with steeply pitched 20th-century tile roofs, stone coping to the left, and brick ridge and end stacks. The arrangement comprises two builds: one range consisting of two single-unit cottages and one two-unit cottage, and the other consisting of a two-unit cottage. One section of the cottages appears to originate from the late 17th century and has been altered later.

The left range has two 20th-century doors and a stable door. Ground-floor windows are 2-light and 3-light casements, constructed of wood or metal, with either stone flat arches or wood lintels. Similar windows are found on the first floor. Some windows have wrought-iron fasteners. The second range has a lowered 20th-century tile roof and brick end stacks. The central entrance has a 20th-century door with a wood lintel. The ground floor has three renewed wood casements with wood lintels, while the first floor has three metal casements in wood frames, featuring chamfered wood lintels and wrought-iron fasteners. Internally, most cottages retain beams and inglenook fireplaces.
