Description

A row of five houses, probably dating to around 1800, which were later remodelled and refronted. The houses are constructed of brick with a Welsh slate roof, and have brick ridge and end stacks. They are three storeys high, with a five-window front. The ground floor has five entrances, with renewed doorways except at numbers 4 and 5, which retain panelled and plank doors with overlights. Number 4 features a large window to the right, while number 6 has a 20th-century shop front. Numbers 7 and 8 have 20th-century sash windows. The first floor has five sashes, two of which are original, and the attic floor has a similar window arrangement. All windows are distinguished by stepped keystoned voussoirs. The rear elevation is of regular coursed ironstone rubble, with single and two-light metal casements, some 20th-century replacements, wrought-iron catches, and some surviving original lintels. Number 8 has a renewed left end wall. The interiors have not been inspected. The row is included in the list for group value.
